Background
The purposes of SEAC-STIPM 2018 aims to build a regional platform that allows experts in the area of science, technology and innovation policy and management (STIPM), or science, technology and societies (STS), to share and discuss their latest researches in topics related to the theme of this conference, “The Innovation-Driven Transformation of Emerging Economy”. The innovation-driven tranformation of emerging economies poses theoretical to academics and practical challenges to policy makers due to the intertwining of technical, structural, institutional as well as political dynamics.
The SEAC-STIPM 2018, which is cohosted by PAPPIPTEK – LIPI (Indonesia) and Perdana School of STI Policy – UTM (Malaysia), invites academics and researchers to submit their papers addressing the above issues, allowing us to discuss and learn from each other. The conference will include a number of keynote speakers that will share their experiences in research as well as in pomoting their research to policy makers of science and technology policy.

Conference Tracks
At SEAC-STIPM 2018 parallel paper tracks containing accepted submissions will be organized around the following broad themes:
- National innovation strategy for overcoming middle-income trap
- Innovation network and global value chain
- The multi-sector capacity building of innovation policy
- Exploiting opportunities from disruptive technologies
- R&D management issues.
- Innovativeness and the Culture of Progress
Important Dates
- First call for papers March 9, 2018
- Open for submission of papers March 9, 2018
- Deadline for submission of papers May 15, 2018
- acceptance notification May 30, 2018
- Conference date November 1, 2018
Paper Submission
Scholars who wish to present their research at the conference must upload a full paper (in PDF) not exceeding 12,000 words (including notes, tables, appendices, list of references, etc.) through the conference website no later than May 15, 2018. Only novel and previously unpublished research is eligible for presentation and the name and affiliation of the author or authors must be removed throughout the paper before submitting it for review. Submission of a paper grants permission to SEAC-STIPM to publish it on the special issues of STIPM Journal.
All submissions will be reviewed anonymously by at least two reviewers working independently of each other. The reviewers will consider the novelty, academic quality and the paper’s relation to the theme of the conference. The decision of paper acceptance will be given between May 15 – 30, 2018. Revised versions of accepted papers may be uploaded until July 30, 2018.
Fee
The participation to this conference is free of charge. Participants may register until August 30, 2018.
